Chief Executive Officer & Founder

Dhruv K. Vig, PhD

Chief Executive Officer & Founder
 

Prior to founding Langar Holdings, he built the global healthcare research division at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), was a founder at the HealthTech startup, Decoded Health, and was part of SRI International’s (formerly Stanford Research Institute) venture team. Dr. Vig holds an A.B. from Kenyon College in molecular biology and mathematics (minor), a Ph.D. from University of Arizona in computational molecular and cellular biology, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in cellular biophysics.

Prior to founding, Langar Holdings, she founded The Female Professional (TFP), a website geared toward empowering women in life and their careers. She is currently a board-certified anesthesiologist at University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Dr. Vig holds a B.A., M.D., and M.B.A. from St. Louis University in biology, completed her residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital (NYC) and her fellowship at Stanford University in Perioperative Management.

He has 25+ years of experience developing HealthTech products and is currently vice president of product at Akura Medical. Prior to joining Akura Medical, he was head of health systems strategy at iRhythm Technology (Nasdaq:IRTC), a senior director at Vocera Communications, founder / CEO of mVisum (acquired by Vocera) and Thought Matrix, and a product manager at Abbott. Dr. Dala holds a B.E. from University of Mysore, a M.S., and Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Drexel University.

He has 25+ years of experience as a healthcare executive leading hospitals in faith based, not for profit, for profit and academic medicine. He currently serves as regional president for one of the nations largest faith based systems and has served as senior operations executive for a top 50 Academic Center as well as COO for one of the largest safety net providers, both in Indiana.  He also serves on a number of boards. Mr. Chand holds a B.A. from St. Louis University in biology and a M.H.A from Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis.

Robert Hansen, JD

He has 25+ years of experience as a patent attorney and is currently a partner & founder at the Marbury Law Group ($12M law firm). During this period, he has advised dozens of startups on intellectual property law and business strategies. He is also the founder of Swim Magazine and was the fourth hire of Protoveris, an angel-backed biotechnology startup. Prior to Marbury, he was an M&A manager at Raytheon Co. Mr. Hansen holds a B.S., M.S. in nuclear engineering from University of Florida and a J.D. from George Mason University.

He has 25+ years of experience as a Healthcare product leader, including diagnostics, devices and HealthTech and is currently Corporate and Marketing Strategy Director at a financial institution. Prior to his current position, he was a senior director of product management and development at Unitron, a consultant at SRI International’s (formerly Stanford Research Institute) ventures, the founder / CEO of Ear Audiology and an engineer at Illumina (Nasdaq: ILMN), Boeing (NYSE: BA) and NASA. Dr. Jones holds a B.A.E in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech, M.S. in mechanical engineering from University of Arizona, Au.D. from University of California, San Diego and M.S. in management from Stanford University.

Philip Edmunds

He has 10+ years of HealthTech investing experience and is currently a partner and investment committee member at WayPoint Capital Partners ($3.5B AUM). Prior to joining WayPoint, he was an associate at DW Healthcare Partners ($1.3B AUM) and a healthcare analyst at Deloitte Consulting LLP. He serves on the boards of various WayPoint portfolio companies, is a member of the Healthcare Private Equity Association (HCPEA) and serves on the joint operating committee with Humana (NYSE: HUM) focused on value-based care delivery to patients in their homes. He holds an A.B. in English from Kenyon College.

Matthew Phipps

He has 20+ years of experience in global marketing and business management experience, including financial institutions and HealthTech startups and is currently the CMO at AgentIQ. Prior to joining AgentIQ, he was a director of marketing at Silicon Valley Bank (Nasdaq: SIVB) and IPRG and founder of Liquid Agency, Realtyweber and Blendz Enterprises. Mr. Phipps holds a B.A. from University of California, Santa Cruz in economics and marketing.

Michael Komai

He has 20+ years of experience in art and animation as it relates to media, communication and education and is currently the director of platforms at ScienceMedia, Inc. Additionally he has 10+ years of research experience working in molecular biology and pharmaceutical sciences in industry. He is an accomplished designer and has designed multiple websites, was colorist for comic books and has developed hundreds of hours of eLearning content.  

Mark Adams PhD

Investment Committee & Data Science

He has 25+ years of experience in bioinformatics, data analytics and the strategy, design and implementation of large-scale informatics organizations and is currently a partner at Two Bears Capital.  Prior to this he was the COO of Adaptive Biotechnology (Nasdaq: ADPT), managing director of data science at SVB Leerink, CIO at Celmatrix and Good Start Genetics, manager at Bridgewater Associates ($140B AUM) and a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton. He has also worked at various biopharma startups to help scale their data science divisions. Dr. Adams hold a B.A. in biology and computer science from Oberlin College, a Ph.D. in cellular biology from Baylor College of Medicine and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in bioinformatics from Boston University. He is currently a visiting faculty at Bentley University, Department of Natural and Applied Sciences.

Peter Guarino

Peter Guarino, JD

Chief Compliance Officer

He has over 35 years of legal, global investment management regulatory and compliance experience. In addition to his role as President of Maine-based Compliance4, LLC, he and the firm provide comprehensive and customized compliance consulting services to investment advisers, registered investment companies and private funds. Currently he serves as the Independent CCO for ETFs and other funds, as well as other advisers to registered funds. In addition to his compliance work, Peter has extensive business and administrative experience and served as the Chief Operating Officer of Merrill Corporation’s Investment Company Services division. Finally, Peter was Senior Counsel and Secretary at GT Global/LGT Asset Management in San Francisco. He began his legal career at The Dreyfus Corporation in New York. He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and New York. Peter received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston and his B.A. from Rutgers University.

Nina Deka, MBA

Private Market Advisor

She has over two decades of healthcare operating and investment experience. Recently she was a Senior Research Analyst at ROBO Global (acquired by VettiFi), where she managed its healthcare ETF portfolio. Prior to ROBO Global, Nina was a sell side equity research analyst at Piper Sandler, covering healthcare IT companies. Nina also held corporate finance and sales roles at Cardinal Health (NYSE: CAH) and Becton Dickinson (NYSE: BDX). She has an MBA from Cornell University, and Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Iowa.

He is pursuing a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics with a focus on Statistics at Kenyon College. Coming from Getxo, Spain, he brings a diverse skill set encompassing finance, leadership, and community service. He aspires to leverage his skills in the dynamic intersection of technology and human impact through the application of AI and data analytics.

He is pursuing an A.B. in Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science at Kenyon College. He is also a student-athlete and Student Representative for Virginia.

Prior to joining Ascension Healthcare, he was COO of Indiana University Health Center, Eskenazi Health, Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC) and St. Mary’s Hospital. He also serves on a number of non-profit and for-profit boards. Mr. Chand holds a B.S. from St. Louis University in biology and a M.H.E. from Washington University School of Medicine.
